The On Line Testing Station is engaged basically with the Short Circuit Testing of low voltage equipments and distribution transformers supported by Supplementary Test facilities to perform the tests in accordance with National and International Standards.

The Laboratory has 100 MVA Short Circuit Test Capacity. The Laboratory consists of 132kV switchyard with associated equipments. The group of 3 Single Phase Step down Transformers T1 of Primary 132 kV with On load Tap Changer, Secondary 6.4 kV in 3 Parts, Continuous Capacity 2MVA & Short Circuit Capacity 33.3 MVA each at supply side and a 3 phase High Current Transformer of 12/0.55kV with Short Circuit rating 100 kA for 3 second or 12/0.726 kV with Short Circuit rating 80 kA for 3 second at Load Side are specially designed for On Line Testing Station to withstand repeated Short Circuits.

The tests are carried out as per National standards (IS) and International standards like BS, IEC,ANSI , IEEE , UL etc. Accredited by NABL, ASTA Intertek UK, Approved by BIS and Member of Short Circuit Testing Liaison ( STL)

3. Reactors and Resistors of 12kV & 0.726kV
4. LT Transformer of 11/0.550kV 100 kArms for 3.0 sec & 11/0.726kV, 80 kArms for 3sec
5. Digital Instrumentation & Data Acquisition system of 8 /16 channel & 12bit, 10Msample/sec Nicolet Transient Recorder & 24 channel, 16 Bit, 24 Msample/s AMO Transient Recorder with STL software.

TEST FACILITY :

1. All type of short circuit test facility for LT circuit breakers, contactors, Starters, Disconnector & switches & combination units, MCBs, MCCBs, RCCBs, RCBOs.
2. Short circuit Dynamic and Thermal withstand test facility for Distribution Transformers upto 1MVA, 11kV class.
3. Short Circuit breaking capacity test facility for LT Fuses, Fuse Holders, Rewirable fuses & fuse cut-outs.
4. Short Circuit tests up to 100 kA for 3.0 sec LT Panels
5. Short Time Current test facility up to 100 kA for 3.0 sec for Current transformers, Power Connectors, Isolators/ Earth Switches, AB switches , HT & LT Busducts, Power cable, joints & terminations of polymeric cables , earthing electrodes and On Load Tap Changers.
