Mechanical Engineering Division (MED)

The Mechanical Engineering Division has got unique facilities and expertise in testing and evaluation of transmission line towers and accessories like conductors, insulator strings, vibration dampers, and spacer dampers etc up to 800 kV as per national and international standards. Offers consultancy services for evolving optimized tower designs, up-grading/up- rating of existing transmission lines are also undertaken. Expertise is also available to investigate and specific R & D activities in these areas.

Expertise:

In house design & proof checking of transmission line towers & communication towers, monopoles, guyed masts, substation structures and substation buildings, any type of power related structures and their foundations as per National / International standards. Testing & evaluation of transmission line towers, monopoles, guyed masts & tower like structures, Vibration aspects & performance evaluation of overhead conductors and associated hardware as per National / International standards.  Feasibility studies on Up-gradation/Up-rating of existing transmission lines. Failure analysis of transmission line towers/accessories. Finite Element Analysis of transmission line components/hardware.
